Hi, I’m Kelly Newell (she/her). I’m a marriage and family therapist and a registered play therapist at Modern Wellness Family Counseling, and I believe therapy works best when it feels real, collaborative, and human. My style is warm, playful, and engaged. My approach is collaborative and flexible, drawing from a variety of therapeutic models. I often integrate play, art, and creative expression alongside verbal processing, depending on what feels most helpful for each client. I value humor, warmth, and honesty in the therapy room, and with adult clients, I believe even a little swearing can sometimes help things feel more real.
I work with children, teens, and adults, and I draw from a blend of therapeutic approaches rather than a one-size-fits-all model. While I’m open to working with a wide range of concerns, I have a special place in my heart for adult women navigating ADHD and for teens who need a space that feels both supportive and honest. I’m passionate about helping clients better understand themselves, build self-trust, and find ways to live that feel sustainable and enjoyable.
